Holy Rosary Catholic School works diligently to stay atop of technology trends. Students in grades 1 through 8 have one-to-one Chromebooks and lower grades utilize Chromebooks as needed. Classrooms utilize online programs such as Renaissance Learning, Khan Academy, IXL Math, ESGI, and teachers use laptops, Apple TV, document cameras, and projectors to enhance instruction. Students learn to use technology to enrich their content understanding. In addition, students collaborate through technology using Google Docs and Google Classroom.
STEM Squad – UC Davis STEM Squad, our after-school enrichment program for middle school students is a fun and interesting way for students to learn about future careers in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math. UC Davis PhD Students offer hands-on, project and problem-based learning opportunities. Holy Rosary is also a Project Lead the Way (PLTW) school in grades 1 through 4, which provides hands-on and project-based learning STEM curriculum to inspire students to question what’s possible and prepare them for long-term success.
Holy Rosary Catholic School participates in the Parochial Athletic League (PAL). Specific sport teams at Holy Rosary Catholic School vary annually depending on student interest and coach availability. Typically, girls volleyball and boys and girls basketball, cross-country, and track and field teams are fielded each year.
The focus of all sports is to teach and build teamwork, as well as and good sportsmanship. Participants, coaches, and parents are all bound by the PAL policies and guidelines as well as those set forth in the Parent Student Handbook regarding the expectations of Christian behavior during games and practices.
Weekly music classes are offered to all students grades TK through 8. This includes music appreciation and preparing students to sing and fully participate at weekly Masses.
Holy Rosary Catholic School offers art projects woven into daily curriculum. In addition, students also experience monthly art classes by docents. Both the docents and classroom teachers receive professional development from the Crocker Art Museum, which focus on the elements of art.
Holy Rosary Catholic School students actively participate in weekly school Masses and also have the opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation several times a year.
